You will normally find that you have a cylinder lock installed in your PVCu or aluminium front door. We believe this to be a great advantage.
Unlike mortice locks or Yale type locks where the turning of the key pulls a bolt out of the way so you can open the door, the cylinder lock engages the multi-point locking mechanism built into the door.
This is why we recommend the far more secure cylinder lock over the older locking system with a single locking point.
However, there are some problems with having a cylinder lock;
| - |
If they are slammed or forced the multiply bolts can be knocked out of alinement making the door harder to open and close. |
| - |
If your door is an older model the lock cylinder is a weakness its self as it can cause your door to broken into simply using a screwdriver. We suggest having your door inspected if its more then a few years old. |
